Bedding & litter
- Clumping cat litterToxic
Do not use clumping cat litter for ferrets. Merck says it may cause breathing problems, and PDSA says ferrets may eat it, which can be harmful.
Medicines
- Ibuprofen and other NSAID painkillersToxic
Never give ibuprofen, naproxen or other NSAID painkillers to a ferret. Cornell's veterinary hospital lists them as toxic to ferrets, and the RSPCA says any amount may be extremely toxic.
Other
- Rubber, foam and soft plastic objectsToxic
Keep rubber, foam and soft plastic items away from ferrets. Merck and the RVC say ferrets chew and swallow them, and the blockage this causes can be fatal.
