    Sources disagree on grapes for rabbits. PDSA lists them as safe in small amounts, but Pet Poison Helpline advises avoiding grapes and raisins because they may affect the kidneys.

    Very small amounts as an occasional treat. Strawberries are fruit, which is high in sugar, and PDSA says to avoid treats like this for overweight rabbits.

    Yes, as part of a varied mix of greens. The Royal Veterinary College and the RSPCA both list parsley as suitable for rabbits.

Treats & human snacks

  • ChocolateToxic

    Chocolate is toxic to rabbits. Merck lists it as do not feed, PDSA says it can be fatal to rabbits, and Pet Poison Helpline describes effects on the gut and heart.

Vegetables

  • BroccoliCaution

    Yes, in moderation, as one of several greens. PDSA notes broccoli can cause gas, and Merck lists broccoli leaves as something to limit.

  • CarrotsCaution

    Only as a small, occasional treat, if at all. Carrots are high in sugar. PDSA and the RSPCA allow small amounts as a treat; one Royal Veterinary College guide does not recommend them.

  • KaleCaution

    In limited amounts, as part of a mix of greens. The Royal Veterinary College and the RSPCA list kale as a suitable green, and Merck lists it as something to limit.

  • LettuceCaution

    It depends on the type. Romaine lettuce is listed as suitable for rabbits; the Royal Veterinary College says not iceberg or light-coloured lettuce.

  • Sweet potatoToxic

    Sweet potato is on the do-not-feed list for rabbits. Merck lists it as toxic for rabbits, and House Rabbit Society includes it among common toxic plants.
