This policy explains how FuzzyNibbles decides, publishes and corrects its answers.
Workflow
- Research: we find sources about the item for that species and record each one with its link, the date we read it and the passage we rely on.
- Checking: an automatic check confirms the rules below are met, such as the number and kind of sources, and that every claim has a source.
- Approval: a person reviews each claim beside its source and approves the page, or sends it back.
- Publication: only approved pages are published. Any later change to an approved page takes it off the site until it is approved again.
- Review: approved pages are reviewed within twelve months, and toxic pages within six months.
Verdicts
What the verdicts mean
- Safe
- Fine for this animal in the form and amount the sources describe. Safe never means unlimited.
- Caution
- Only in some forms or small amounts, or a problem for some animals. Read the page before offering it.
- Toxic
- Do not feed. It can poison or seriously harm this animal. If it has been eaten, contact a vet who treats small mammals now.
- Not verified
- We haven't verified it for this animal yet. That doesn't mean it's safe.
Species-specific evidence
An answer for one species is never used for another, and we do not use dog or cat sources for small mammals. When there is no answer for your animal, we say it has not been verified, and link to other species only with a clear label saying the answer is for a different animal.
What we will not publish
- Feeding amounts, doses or schedules that our sources do not state.
- Home treatment, medicines, or instructions to make an animal sick.
- Claims of veterinary review, endorsements, ratings or reviews that do not exist.
Corrections
If you think an answer is wrong, use Report an error. We check the sources again and correct the page if needed.
No corrections have been made yet. When we correct a published answer, the date, the page and what changed will be listed here.
Affiliate links
Some Safe pages may later carry clearly labelled shopping links. They never appear on Caution, Toxic or Emergency pages, and they never affect a verdict. See our affiliate disclosure.
